Dembra has been working with young children and their families in a variety of settings for over 40 years undertaking the role of a teacher, director, trainer, and manager. In every role Dembra is strongly focussed on advocating for equitable access for all families to quality play-based programs. Dembra recognises that genuine relationships are fundamental to building trust so families and professionals can work together to support children’s growth. Her experience of living in Indigenous communities in North Queensland, Thursday Island and in remote Northern Territory has informed her practice to form a culturally sensitive and informed way of working. More recently Dembra has managed programs for children with additional needs including those living with trauma.
