Michelle is a qualified counsellor and an Associate member of the PTPA.

Michelle also has qualifications in early childhood education. Michelle has worked in early education and human services for over fifteen years in Ipswich and Toowoomba. While studying early childhood education Michelle discovered a passion for child development and just how important of play and community are for children.

Michelle worked in human services supporting families and carers and has a keen interest in family mental health. Michelle completed a diploma of arts (Human Services) and saw the importance of counselling skills in her work, so completed a diploma of counselling, and then a post graduate diploma in counselling specialising in loss and grief.

In the past five years Michelle’s work involved supporting foster carers, foster children and children who have complex mental health issues and saw a gap in services that provided age and developmentally appropriate therapeutic support.

Michelle completed the Centre for Play Therapy’s clinical training program and the advanced clinical workshop and has found it to be the therapeutic support children respond best to. Michelle is excited to work with families in Toowoomba in play therapy and to help advocate for play therapy and its benefits in the Darling Downs.

Michelle is also currently completing a Masters in Counselling Advanced Practice (USQ), with research interests in children’s trauma recovery through child centred play therapy.
