Kylie Ellison is a counsellor, play therapist, clinical supervisor and trainer who is passionate about helping children and families feel heard, and supporting the practitioners who work alongside them.
With a professional background spanning adult mental health, child protection and disability services, Kylie brings years of experience and a deep commitment to relational, child-centred practice.
Kylie began her career working alongside mental health practitioners in adult mental health before moving into child protection and disability services. Working with children, young people and families shaped her understanding of the importance of safety, connection and relationships.
In 2016, she discovered Child-Centred Play Therapy (CCPT), an approach that resonated with her way of understanding and supporting children. She went on to establish Centre for Play Therapy, offering children a space to explore difficult feelings and experiences through play.
Her work expanded into professional education, creating training opportunities and a pathway for Australian professionals wanting to become play therapists. Today, these services come together through Kylie Ellison Therapy & Training, based in the Redlands area of South-East Queensland.
Alongside her clinical and training work, Kylie is passionate about advocacy, connection and building a community in which play therapists can continue to learn from and support one another.

Play Therapy & Counselling
Child-Centred Play Therapy provides children with an accepting therapeutic relationship where play is their natural language. Kylie values working alongside parents and carers to better understand and support each child's needs.
Kylie supports fellow practitioners to reflect on their clinical work, strengthen confidence and explore the relational and ethical dimensions of practice. Her supervisory approach reflects her commitment to thoughtful, supportive professional relationships.
Through introductory and advanced Child-Centred Play Therapy training, Kylie helps professionals build their theoretical understanding and practical skills, with a strong emphasis on the therapeutic relationship and ongoing development.
Kylie's approach is grounded in the belief that children communicate through play, and that the relationship is central to therapeutic change. She is committed to helping adults see beyond behaviour and listen to what children may be expressing through their play.
For practitioners, the same values carry into training and supervision: curiosity, reflection, empathy and respect for each person's learning journey.
“You don’t have to do more. You need to be with.”
